The purpose of Mrs. Clay's 7th and 8th Grade Reading Class is to challenge and support students as they strive to prepare their reading skills for high school success!
Each and everyday we will read silently, listen to reading, and read aloud. We will also write in many formats about our reading and ideas that reading creates. I will encourage students to choose books that interest them in order to fulfilled the required reading homework assignment of 30 minutes daily.
Early in the year each student take a diagnostic reading test in order to determine which reading skills need improving. We will work on fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, comprehension strategies, with the goal of each student becoming an independent reader! We will work together as a class to make sure that our learning environment is conducive to success for each and every student!
